Can Pixel become the next Oneplus?

Finally, the new pixel is here. Pixel 6 series with all new Tensor chip and new camera module and pixel signature dual tone design, it’s the most refreshing smartphone design, period.

The launch event didn’t excite us at all as we have been seeing leaks and prototype designs since months. Also, watching apple event one day before pixel launch event made the pixel launch even more boring. The event mainly focused on Pixel design, Tensor chip and Android 12 new UI i.e., Material You.

Google launched two model, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro with Full HD+ 6.4 inch OLED and 6.7 QHD+ LTPO OLED display respectively. The Pixel 6 is priced at $599 (₹44,999/-) and Pixel 6 pro at $899, though $299 price difference is hard to justify. Even with $899 (₹67,400/-) price tag, it’s cheaper than it’s competitor's flagship, though Pixel is hardly taking part in the competition.

Oneplus has been the favorite among the users who loved clean software and premium specs sheet. But slowly the clean software going out of the picture with android 12 update in Oxygen UI, users might be in need for other brand to fill it's shoe. Almost no brand gives clean UI and Ad free experience in android world except Pixel. Smartphone brands are so much hyped on giving the best specs on sheet, they hardly consider software a selling point. Pixel is in the raw form and bloatware free.

The Value For Money brand which OnePlus was back in 2016-17 is now also competing with leading brand to give all it’s flagship a premium Price tag. OnePlus's clean Oxygen OS was the best selling point of Smartphone apart from regular security updates and premium built with premium specs sheet. It had no ads or bloatware with very minimal practical design. Now, Oxygen OS being forcefully converted to Color OS hybrid with OnePlus merging with Oppo, a lot of users might rethink their options. If Google plays their cards right, it can capture a big chunk of market with Pixel 6 series.

Even though Google is Uncertain to launch their Pixel 6 series in India, they are certain enough to go all in with new design and competitive pricing. We might have to wait a little for full review and how tensor chip treats the new pixel.
